did anyone see this new BMW phone cradle for Satnav and BMW connected app is been updated as well. think there will be no BMW Navigator 7.

looks like it will be an extra for people with existing bikes(prices yet to announce). they may include it I guess for 2022 bike, not sure.

The thing is they have a tie up with TOMTOM now on the BMW connected app. The maps are currently included in the Bike price. so if assuming there will be a Navigator 7(if any), then it would be TOMTOM I guess.

Normally, I'd be excited about getting BMW's phone cradle so I could use BMW's wiz wheel to control the phone, but it has three insurmountable problems:
- It precludes the use of an anti-vibration component like Quad Lock's and using a phone without anti-vibration is a BAD idea (e.g., https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212803)
- The cradle blocks user access to the phone's on/off and volume buttons unless you put the phone's USB port on the left while the cradle's USB port is on the right.
- It forces you to use BMW's Connected App. In contrast, WunderLinq is open for any app to make itself compatible (e.g., Kurviger, which is a much better nav app than BMW's).

I'll stick with my current setup which includes my phone and Nav VI both mounted simultaneously via a pair BMW Nav VI mounts. The phone setup includes, in order, BMW's Navigation VI Prep mount, WunderLinq's Blackbox (enables wiz wheel control of Kurviger), Quad Lock 360 4-Hole Flat Rectangle Base, Quad Lock Anti-Vibration Dampener, Quad Lock 360 Head Lever, and Quad Lock Phone Case. The lower Nav VI mount is an adapted F900 Nav VI mount. Both are locking, i.e. the Wunderlinq Blackbox and the Nav Vi are locked in place (the phone isn't locked in place, but that's why I got Quad Lock so I can easily remove it so I can always take it with me.)

I will definitely be buying a couple, one for each bike. I have heard that the cost will be about £180 sterling in the UK.

I know that it works just fine. On the R1250RS I have my Android phone mounted on the GPS cradle for 10,000+ kms and my girlfriend has hers mounted on her XR for about 5,000 kms. Neither phone is suffering for it.
What this new BMW phone cradle will do is give us more control over the phones and a nice clean dash without too much clutter.
