    Advice needed from US

I need some advice please, from over the pond.  :084:

Is it difficult to buy a TomTom Rider550 over there? And, if so, are they expensive?

I ask because I am selling one and someone, with only 1 post, has asked if I will ship it to San Francisco.. cost would be £220.00 Shipped. He says go ahead but I'm a little nervous because I know nothing about the guy.  :187: Thank you in advance for your thoughts, advice.

I would be skeptical on this because there are currently five used TomTom Rider550's for sale on the US eBay site*, four shipping from the US and one from Canada, and all but one are listed for less than your 220.00 pound price. Then again, if he's willing to pay in full, as Diavel said, no worries.

You would need to ensure that you were paid Paypal Friends & Family, to ensure that there wasn’t a claim of non-delivery, or broken on receipt.

(Make sure you mark with full price for US Customs)

But - as above, there is something a bit suspicious unless the person wants a unit with European mapping installed, rather than NA.

    Thanks for the replies..

I'm a little nervous because the money is in my PayPal account but not available until 15th December, by which time he will have had the goods around 10 days and could also say they weren't as described, not a problem if they are a few miles away but I don't fancy nipping over the pond to sort any issues..

I think I'll just hang on to the sat nav for now.  :084:

Thanks, and as far as I can tell, all Rider550's come with world maps installed.  :084:

If not available for immediate withdrawal, then I suspect a scam.  It has happened to someone on another forum who sent an expensive golf club to USA (sold via e-bay/paypal).  Recipient claimed broken on arrival, but even though the breakage was at odds with the packaging damage - Ebay/paypal issued a refund.  The 'buyer' had broken his own golf club, and found a way of getting a replacement at someone else's expense.  They rely on distance to prevent a visit from the seller's pals.

Interesting about the world mapping - wasn't aware of that one.   :028:

To set the record straight, it's my end that has ring fenced the money to protect the buyer. Apparently, I don't do a lot of sales so have very little feedback.  :084:

I pm'd the buyer with my concerns, he understood and said if I wasn't comfortable I should not go through with the sale. Anyway, I'm going to trust in a fellow biker and go through with the sale.

I'll let you know how it goes.. maybe you'll be able to say "I told you so" maybe my faith in you fellow bikers will well founded..  :084: :015:
