With the current weather in the UK motorcycle riding is way down the list, but for when better climes arrive put a little bit of thought into when you are going to need new rubber because availability is getting a tad unpredictable.

    Good advice.

I don't have many miles left on the S21 tyres on my XR after a September trip to Scotland. 1000 miles maybe.

I am fortunate to have a second bike, an R1200RS which is sporting a nearly new pair of Avon Storm 3D XM. Unlike the S21, these are good for over 7000 miles so should allow me to make all planned trips even if I can't get tyres for the XR at a sensible price.

I'm alright for 2022. The RS can do the touring and I can use the XR for weekends without needing new rubber.
