    Screens and mirrors

    Dear All,

Finally yesterday took my bike (2016 modell), the picture now is missing because on the half of the way it was a heavy snow, so I need to wash it before I would take any picture.  :020: :020:
I am 197 cm tall and I have still the original windshield, but in the upper position it is buffeting a lot (I have a Shoei Neotec 2 helmet). I looked after in other topics, I know the MRA Vario is the big favourite, but I don't like it too much.
Has somebody experience with the following windshields(practically would be good with similar height as mine)?
    https://shop.touratech.de/windschild-l-getoent-fuer-bmw-s1000xr-2020.html
    https://www.wunderlich.de/shop/en/bmw-s-serie/s-1000-xr/ergonomics-comfort/screens-complements/wunderlich-touring-windshield-marathon-m35752-201.html
I am considering the Original BMW touring screen and the GIVI one. With the Puig I have some bad experiences. If you have picture would be a dream :)

My other problem is the rear view from the mirrors. As an alternative I found the Evotech mirror extensions. My other idea would be the following mirror:
    https://www.wunderlich.de/shop/de/nachruest-spiegelglas-safer-view-asphaerisch-m20141-313-1.html
Does somebody use it? I did not find anything about them.

My third question would be, how the bike is react when a bigger top case is installed? It is recommended or better with the smaller one?

I would not like to generate to many off topics, sorry if I am off :)  :431: :431:

I would really appreciate it if you would share with me your experiences. This is my first BMW after 11 years Honda riding, but this is a brilliant bike. :062: :062:

    Kind regards,
    Mark

Could not believe the wind noise around the helmet on my GFs gen2. Changed the screen for the shorter BMW sports screen and the bike is now lovely and quiet. All down to the helmet being in clean air rather than turbulent air off the screen.

You are taller than me at 190cm. I had on my 2020 the high seat. Had that changed to +20mm. And  the WRS sport screen  That's in between the BMW short and standard screen. My advice, try the bike without the screen. If that's ok for you then try WRS. It comes up to GPS height. I'm thinking about putting the WRS even more flat on my 2022 as the bottom of my helmet still catches turbulent air. I'm also considering lowered pegs.

I'm 1,97m also and I have the Puig Sport screen (and a Shoei Gt Air helmet). I find it good in the upper position, no major turbulance or noise and wind protection is also OK. At the lower position, it has a bit less buffeting but above 100-120km/h I can feel the air hiting my helmet so in the long run it's a bit annoying. I travel with the screen in the upper position and I'm quite happy overall. Attached is a foto of my bike with the puig screen!

A fellow rider (about the same height) has the touring version of the Puig screen and found it bad, to much turbulence. He is now trying the Z-Technic V -Stream windshield

It looks very nice, but is it not too slim? On my previous bike I had the Puig also and I drove a few times above 210 km/h, and the end the windshield was broken around the screws.

Do you have a topcase on the bike ?

I have used a bigger top box on all the S1000XR's that I have owned and never had a problem.I bought the bike with the BMW side cases and then put a Give 56L (?) box on that could hold 2 full face helmets so it was very convenient for touring and normal use.

Two up at highway speeds was no problem.

So the answer probably is.....depends what you think you need the bigger box for? For me it is just more convenient and , ironically, I have just removed the BMW top box ( it came with the bike) and fitted a larger box

I got the bike with the screen, I've done around 4000km (I don't know how many miles did the previous owner wtih the screen fitted), I have reached speeds over 200km/h and so far and nothing is broken, I don't noticed any differences in material comparing the Puig screen with other ones I had in the past.

    No, I don't use a top case.

Thank you very much for the feedbacks.  :046: :152: :152: :062: :062: I will chose the bigger top case.

Now the only question is the windshield. :084: :084:

    Hi Everyone,
Sorry to jump in, but that’s also the kind of info I was looking for sice I am also deciding which screen to buy.
I’m quite a bit shorter then you lot with my 180cm (5.11”).
I have the low suspension model 2021, I’m not sure which seat I have because I bought it 2nd hand and previous owner could not tell me, but I think it’s the low seat.
I have a Nolan N100-5 and the BMW sport screen and for me it does not work very well.
In low position I have a lot of wind hitting my neck and chin. With the screen up is a bit better but I am still not happy.
Keep in mind that I ride a lot on motorways and high speed roads.
I was thinking of the MRA Vario or Touring as well because of the reviews I’ve read around as well, but I was hoping someone with similar height/seat set up could tell me thier thought about it.
I have an R Nine T as well, so I’m used to ride naked bikes, wind is something I’m used to, but the whole point of getting the XR was to get a bike I could tour long dostances with and I’d love some wind protection…I just don’t want it to look like a scooter…and I definitely do not want to compromise the stability of the bike at high speed.

    Any advice?
