Hi everyone,
Long time avid reader of this forum, at least since I started doing my due diligence before purchasing a 2019 Sport SE triple black in May last year.
That bike was a bit of shot in the dark to be honest. I needed something to go sport-touring with a pillion (who likes to ride fast, so more sport than touring) and I had been warned... actually, I had been forbidden by my riding buddies to buy yet another Ducati (there are 2 in the garage, there have been others in the past and I was looking at the MS 1260S).
I thought the S1000XR could fit the bill and boy did she!
We've had an absolute blast on it until now, though we've been limited to touring the UK for obvious reasons.
Then a few months back, while my bike was being serviced, I made the conscious "mistake" of asking the dealer to give me a Gen2 for half a day. After 4 hours, I found it sort of fixed all the minor niggles I had with my Gen1 (the usual suspects, I guess) and I was loving it.. well, except for the seat, which I found painfully uncomfortable after 1 hour or so on it.
Long story short, this week or next week I should take delivery of a Gen2 TE Triple Black. Then I guess I will have to sort the seat situation out somehow. I've ordered it with the low seat, which I found marginally less torturous and it might have some more room for adding some padding and reupholstering it before it lifts me way too high off the ground. We'll see. If anyone knows a good address in Herts or thereabout, I'd be happy to hear.
For now, I hope I'll be able to contribute to the discussions after having learnt so much from the forum. And of course I am looking forward to put the first 600 miles on the bike and unlock it.
Later on, as soon as I find the time to snap some photos, I might have parts for sale that I have taken off my Gen1, if anyone's after any of them (low seat, panniers with locks, Puig levers, MRA vario, Givi adapter plate, and something else that I forget).
Cheers,
Dave
