Apologies if I am late to the party on this but after spending a week or so shopping around for a new set of Rukka jacket and trousers, I came upon https://www.louis-moto.co.uk - like a lot of the European suppliers, their prices were very low compared to those in UK retailers but unlike all the others, they will refund any customs charges that may be levied when you get the goods. I spoke to the store, found what I wanted and probably saved £4-500 on the items.

All arrived by ParcelForce 4 days after I ordered it. Fits well, no sign of any Customs Bill yet

Generally speaking if there are custom duties to be paid they have to be payed before you can receive your items  :046:

    That is FAST service !

(several couriers inc PO/Parcelforce - will deliver first and claim any tax/duty/handling later.)

they would need massive warehouses to store the uncollected goods if they sent bills before releasing the parcel.

by delivering the goods the courier has completed their contract. If you do not pay the bill when you get it then it is a tax debt to the government which won't go well if you do not pay it.

For those of you with insomnia 😁:

    Tax and duty

You’ll be contacted by Royal Mail, Parcelforce or the courier company if you need to pay any VAT, duty or delivery charges (‘handling fees’) to receive your goods.

They’ll send you a bill stating exactly which fees you need to pay.

They’ll normally hold your parcel for about 3 weeks. If you have not paid the bill by then, your parcel will be returned to the sender.

I've since bought a pair of Daytona boots and some Rukka gloves from the same place. Both were delivered in less than a week and no duty was charged. Looking at the Customs regs, the duty is variable but if the item is made in the EU and is classed as Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) then if duty is charged, it's not much.
