    Hex ezcan update

    Good day to everyone.. :001:

A question. Is it essential to update the ezcan before configuring? My bike is at our new house and we Don't have internet yet. I assume once plugged in to the laptop it doesn't need internet to configure stuff?  :084:

Thanks Bob.. will you take a look at this photo, is this the correct plug for the ezcan, can't find anything else that will fit but strangely, the female side seems to be a blank.. I'm confused and can't find an image or fitting instructions specifically for a 2017 s1000xr.

You should be able to update it later.  It just means that it will operate using an older version of the firmware / software.

For installation the guide for the Denali CANsmart may help as it's essentially the same product

Thank you. Those instruction are great, it explained what I was confused about. I'm confident now that I can proceed with the installation.

That would be great  :028: It's not that I'm a newbie to doing electrical work but this is my first canbus bike and the ezcan isn't a cheap piece of tat  :164: so I'd like to cross all the T's and dot the I's before I go ahead.

    Thank you.

Windy, hope these couple of images help. Just worth noting that my XR does not have the factory alarm/immobiliser fitted. Worth noting that the datatag sticker is on the opposite side on my bike so the connections under your data tag sticker are the ones I used for the hexEZCAN.

I haven't shown the battery positive or negative as I am assuming that is pretty self explanatory !

I believe that whilst it looks blank it is a termination point for the alarm can bus where no alarm is fitted and by plugging the output wires/plug from the hexEZCAN into it will ensure the can bus works correctly (but I may be completely wrong!).
