Hello, my name is Jay and I am from MidWest region, USA. After a long gap of 7 years from active riding (riding 25 + years before) I am starting again. I put a deposit last month with my nearest dealer for a 2022 low version 850GS but a week ago changed to a 2022 S1000XR full option + low suspension bike (I am shy of 5'7", 29" inseam and I never felt comfy with standard suspension XRs or GSs I tried). This was after a lot of reviews and research, though I couldn't find one to test ride here. Since I do not do off-roading and prefer the better handling and lower diameter tires, I assume I should like the bike. I have only tried a previous F900XR model for a short ride which I liked.
I assume the XR will stratify two up riding as well since my partner and I go for occasional short / long rides. Hoping to learn a lot from here. It is a big investment!
    Thanks
    Jay

    Evening Jay and welcome,

I am sure you will love this bike. Can do everything in my opinion, and that without headers, akrapovic etc etc. Travelled over 2500 miles this year with my wife as pillion and the bike was no issue whatsoever.
As you will see on here the only real issue i have is with the standard seat. Numb bum syndrome after 3 to 4 hours. But again thats subjective and you may find it completely comfortable.

    Enjoy the bike.

Thanks Mab. I have ordered the M Sport + Premium with low susp so will get the Akrapovic slip-ons. I know its just slip-ons but if it adds a little bit better note I should be happy. I am not looking for any headers, full system or anything since this bike will have plenty of power which is more than I can handle, at least initially, I guess. Let me see how the low rev torque is and I might plan something later if some mods out there which can help.
I am getting the factory low seat and will see how comfortable I am in terms of height as well as numb bums syndrome. I might go for a better after market one later. The only other mod I am planning now is a radiator cover.
I am glad to know that you and your wife enjoy the rides and it is comfortable. It is re-assuring. Now the final part is this waiting. Since things are pretty bizarre around the world, especially in the automotive and parts side, I don't know how long I have to wait. I am in a colder region anyway, so I have that excuse for couple of months, but not after spring break. Hopefully BMW will turn around!
