Just a quick intro, longtime rider. have had mostly ducs, aprilias and mvs. BUT retired now, and the thought of going to atlanta (100+ miles away) to the nearest duc dealer has just gotten old.
Amazingly our local motorcycle dealer (they carry all the Japanese bikes). Is now adding a BMW, KTM, Indian showroom. THey're not officially open yet, but found out they had an M color 22 S1000XR. This had been on my shortlist of bikes and the others were the Mulitstrada V4S , Mult V2 and Tracer 9GT.
A few years ago I did a two day superbike camp at Barber with Keith Code school. Absolutely loved the S1000RR and the motor is superb. So the S1000XR seems to tick the boxes for me. I put the deposit today but will be a couple weeks before they officially open and we can do all the paperwork. THe parts guy is working on getting the side and top cases. I'm not totally sold on the BMW nav system, it would be the easiest since it already has the mount. But I think I like the newer version of zumo better (the mount won't work if I've read correctly). I had an earlier zumo which was great.

There are some advantaged to the BMW Nav system 1) the wonder wheel can operate it, this is much easier than using the touch screen 2) you can display 16 data points from the various sensors (pressures, temps, volts, MPG, MPH, elevation, etc) 3) the mount is sturdy, lockable, and already there.

Thanks for the info, It's good to get some input on users of the system. I've just read reviews and plan to give the manual a read. The plug and play aspect is definitely appealing. I wasn't aware of the wonder wheel control.

Nice bike, and welcome to the forum. Definitely give the BMW nav system a go first.

youu can also look at the bmw connected ride cradle and use the bmw connected app, which comes with tomtom world maps.
I have not personally used it, but it is 1/4th of the price of BMW nav.

Welcome to the forum. Hope u enjoy the bike as much as i do. Brilliant bike so far.
Has anybody actually been able to purchase the BMW cradle as yet?? All i can find is a pre order from a Dealer in UK so far. And saying April delivery?? Bought from them before so no doubt info correct.
Just wondering where everybody else in UK has purchased from. IF so can you send link and or give us a review etc.

I don't actually use a cellphone enough, and would prefer a dedicated nav. THe multistrada v4s has a similar companion app, it appears to be very glitchy from what I've read on the duc forum.

I prefer both...with a Wunderlinq between my phone and the BMW OEM Nav VI mount, I can use the wonder wheel to control some aspects of my phone, including the phone nav app I use, Kurviger.de/en. The lower mount is also a BMW OEM Nav VI mount, connected for power, but not the wonder wheel. I can swap the phone and my Nav VI from top to bottom depending upon which one I'm actively using for navigation at the time.
