New to Gen 2-some advice please

I will shortly be taking delivery of an early 2021 Gen 2 and would appreciate some advice on a few issues. Would the bike benefit (Or need?) a change of bar end weights like the Gen 1 or does it not have the same vibration issues? What crash bungs would people recommend (In the UK) I normally buy R&G but am open minded. Are there any must do accessories for comfort and bike protection? TIA

Everyone is different, but the most popular (and usually necessary) mods on gen 2 are:
    comfier seat (stock is horrible)
better wind protection (stock standard/comfort screens suffer from turbulences)
No annoying vibes on gen 2, but you can always add the heavier bar end weights if you experience some.

Re the crash bungs, take s look at SW motech. They look very nice on the bike and they are designed do let the bike slide in case of a crash. I would avoid the standard protruding bungs because they can cause more damage than good if they catch an uneven surface on the road during the slide

In answer to the do I change the barend's, I did but only as I had them from my Gen1, did it help some the Gen 2 is much better the mirrors still vibratat some at that 70 ~ 90 MPH top gear but you can see what's there un like the Gen 1.

Crash bungs Yes I went for the R&G ones https://www.rg-racing.com/browsetype/Crash_Protectors/BMW/S1000XR/#  I guess crash bar's are better but the do look a little GS'ey to me and I'm not having the BMW Carbon ones at a Grand!!! :005:

I have the M-sport and yes the seat could do with a little more comfort for the big mile days when your having to sit on the motorway mile after mile but it's not that bad.

I would say get some rad gards and a front and rear fender extender.

    Other thant that enjoy.
I’d rather be laying in the Sun like a cat, than working like a dog for the cash!

I moved the Evotech bar end weights over from my 2019. They made no discernible difference IMO, the Gen 2 (my Gen 2 at least) doesn't seem to suffer from vibrations on the bar.
It does have some annoying vibrations on the saddle and pegs around a specific range (5k maybe? I forget now), which is worse than on my Gen 1. That said, my Gen 1 was one of those that just had no noticeable issues with vibrations anywhere and at any rev.

Crash bungs: I went with R&G as I found a great deal somewhere. I haven't tested them yet though (and don't intend to) so I can't really saz how well they'd do their job.

I definitely agree with it needing rad guards!

As for the windscreen, at 5'9" (on a very good day), I find the stock screen miles better than the Gen 1's. Still not perfect and there's still some mild buffeting in both positions. On the Gen 1 though I just had to change to a MRA Vario as the buffeting was unbearable at any useful speed. On the Gen 2, I prefer the high position and whatever buffeting there is left doesn't really bother me enough to replace the screen. YMMV, clearly, depending on how tall you are, at least.

On the seat front: I bought mine with the OEM low seat out of desperation, as I took out a 2020 with a standard seat for a long test ride and I found it to be a torture. Much to my surprise, I find the low seat night and day better. In particular the raised plastic sides are no longer there (or are much shorter) so they don't dig into your leg, around where the thigh meets the buttock. I've done half days on the bike with no discomfort at all. I'm still considering getting it padded and reupholstered for additional comfort, which was the original plan, but I've got a 1500-mile trip planned for this summer and would have no reservation to go with the seat as it is.
