    Hi All
Well that didn't go according to plan!
Out for my first ride of the year, I've covered about 20 miles, when I spell burnt oil. Pull over to take a look, oil is pissing out of the engine  :430:

It’s coming out of a small hole by the sump plug, recovery blokey recons it’s a fault in the sump casting. Thank goodness it’s under warranty

That’s got to be a first on here...wrong type of first, be interesting to hear what they say when it’s in bits...where has the bike got to go too?

Bet you life that's the offender.

Bike now at BMW dealership, they can’t see exactly what’s going on as there’s so much all everywhere. So they’re draining the last thimble of oil out of the engine overnight, then a good clean to be able to see where the sump has failed.
The back tyre was also covered in oil, it could have ended very badly. Me thinks I might have to buy myself a lottery ticket

I'm supposing that it is the 2020-on model?

Well - it is a fairly well-known issue with the oil pump, I believe.

Searching through texts from a friend who ultimately rejected his bike - his required a new oil pump, water pump, sump and ancillaries !

I think there is a thread on here, titled:   Gen 2  sump weeping issue (in general chat)

I think you will be glad of the warranty!

    Yep, it’s a Gen 2 bike.
Dealership are making noises about replacing the whole engine, but they’ll know more when they start to check crank bearings etc.
BMW warranty comes into its own now.

I’ll be surprised if they don’t put a motor in, cheapest option(for BM)rather than faffing about with the OE one.

Please advise how old and how many miles your bike has done and are you the first owner from new?
    Cheers,
    Charlie Spiceboy.
