Lights in the dark
« on: June 20, 2016, 09:37:45 AM »
Didn't finish work till 11pm the other night and so got to ride the bike in the dark for the first time,

The lights are appalling!!

As for main beam, I might as well have not bothered. I came from a Triumph Explorer to this bike and the lights on that were fantastic

I have already changed the bulbs to Phillips extremes, but I am very disappointed

Any thoughts?

I've upgraded mine to HID's. I don't ride at night much, but mainly wanted them to be seen on wet and gloomy days. They came on the other day when it rained, and they are ridiculously bright, just how they should have been from the factory. Why BMW didn't fit LED headlights to this bike is beyond me.

Like Rich I've fitted HIDs - a Canbus friendly 35w for low beam and a 'fast start' 50w for high beam from http://www.hid50.com
Mention the forum & Les will likely knock a couple of quid off  :038:
I haven't done much night riding since I fitted them but I will once the days get shorter. They are waay brighter than stock...

Thanks for the responses

I might investigate this option further, where do you place the ballasts

I fitted mine on the inside of the fairing panels using longer bolts in existing holes & then cable tied the wires to existing ones.

Rich got the dealer to do his cos he's a lazy sod  :164:
But it probably looks neater than mine....

It does look neater than yours! :008:

The dealer took all the fairing panels off to fit it properly!

Yeah, I'm gonna do that too

It only took them half an hour, but I guess they do that all day long! Gave me a chance to put a dent in their biscuit collection! :164: :008:
