    Service history

    Good evening

Looking at purchasing a '19 plate bike from a dealer. Hasn't been dealer serviced at 6k though apparently the owner bought the "service pack" from the dealer and carried it out himself. The bike has been dealer serviced now at 11k. How will this stand up to honouring warranty as they state all bikes are to have a full history if from the Motorrad premium selection? Would it be a big issue

    Cheers

    Pete

If it's a 19 plate I'm pretty sure warranty already ran out, and BMW don't care about service history if you pay for the extended warranty I'm pretty sure. From what I understand it's basically just insurance for mechanical issues, will depend on your bike how much premium you pay.

the factory warranty is 3 years so there might be a few months left

You mention dealer twice. Was the 11k service undertaken by a BMW dealer? Is the selling dealer a BMW dealer?

Sorry for not being a bit clearer

The bike in question has been serviced at 11k by a BMW dealer and is for sale through the same dealer at present. Just thought the gap in the service history may be to my detriment whenever I came to sell the bike on.

    In no particular order...sorry.

We have been going to the NW200 for over 20 years covid excepted...the hassle is finding accommodation and when we asked all those years ago was told because folks in your part of world think Belfast to the north coast is a long way 😳 so they all B+B it, so my first question to you is how the hell does someone put 11k on a bike in your neck of the woods and almost certainly to do that mileage in that time it will have seen bad weather.

Who is selling the bike, cuz Charles Hurst doesn’t list it.

Service wise the 6000 is an oil change and a look around the bike so unless a buyer was being VERY picky doubt it would have any influence on resale.

I have only ever run an extended BM warranty once ( I have 3 Beemers) and that was on my K1200r Sport which has been somewhat of a mechanical monster but certainly wouldn’t bother with the X/R.

I did wonder about the lack of clarification of what dealer was selling.

It looks like they are selling with 2yr warranty, which is BMW backed.

I wouldn't be worried - with the 6,000 mile service being done on the cheap (although you have to wonder about the original owner risking a warranty claim for an £80-£100 saving).

The bike is for sale on the mainland as they are scarce around these parts especially in Motorsport colours. As for the NW 200 I managed to book a house in Bushmills only last week  :002:

Well, it might be more than that, I mentioned in another post how a mate of mine with a Ducati MS1260 was done for 1100 quid on a 9000 mile fluid service + brake pads and chain. I don't think i'd value factory warranty at that much money... I know this is BMW, but also, this is BMW we're talking about, you just never know if they're gonna charge 200 quid or 400 lol

Is it not being sold with the 2yr warranty (approved used bmw) ?
