    Renting a bike in Spain

I've had a bike for the majority of the last 30+ years and never ridden on the continent. For shame!

We've booked a family trip to Spain for October. Thought it might be nice to hire a bike while I was out there and rectify that issue!

So just wondered if anyone had any experience of renting a bike while in Spain, specifically around the Alicante area?

    Thanks!

Not Alicante, but my brother rented a Ducati Multistrada in Barcelona for 10 days. He rode up to the Picos and met a group of us. We toured Northern Spain and Portugal before he returned to Barcelona. The bike came with full luggage and a SatNav. He pre-booked the bike. It all went to plan, no issues. He is looking to rent a BMW from Bilbao in September and is just going through the booking process now.
Reason he rents is that he lives in Australia so can't bring his bike with him !

Again, not Alicante but on a recent business trip to Tenerife I hired a bike for a day, rode up in to the mountains, easy transaction. The guy had some nice bikes, Africa Twins, BMW's all new, I opted for a older BMW 650, the Island isn't so big and I fancied a bimble in the hills rather than panzering around the twisties..  :007:

Thanks guys, good to know it is a workable option.

Don't suppose you can let me know the names of the places you/your brother rented from? If I'm lucky they will have local branches. Or even if I had to go to Barcelona and ride back, that doesn't sound so bad!

I use the guys at Motohire Spain. They are in Andalusia but will deliver and collect the bikes to anywhere in Spain.
Personally I'd fly into Malaga and ride up to Alicante. They have a great selection of bikes.   I'd highly recommend , have used them for over 10 years, never had any problems .

Awesome, thanks - will look them up now.

I think we're going to have to re-arrange our flights anyway, so I'm half thinking of getting a flight on my own and riding up. Not sure how keen my wife will be on that part of the plan though....

this is a comparison site for bike rentals - key in your dates to get prices and availability then seek reviews on the companies short listed, and compare prices with going direct as this might be cheaper as they won't be paying a fee to the booking site.
