    Hello Gents,
Did my normal inspection of bike before I ride and saw the below. Picture below. This is front wheel, Left hand side as you are sitting on the bike. (Clutch side). Its a 2021 Latest Gen XR
Can someone show me whats supposed to be here? Or is this normal? and finally, is it safe to ride?
    Thanks gents.

Is this gen 2? Id think the axle needs to be threaded in deeper, the Gen 1 has a flat nut for the LHS, but i haven't looked at gen 2s

I have a Gen 1, so can't comment directly on the Gen 2, but when looking at the parts fiche your photo looks correct(parts wise) for the Gen 2. This looks like the same setup as my Gen1 R, and your photo looks just like mine right now(34k miles without axle issues).

    Thanks Simon,
I had the bright spark idea to have a browse through the classifieds and saw all 2020+ XR look the same. So this set my mind at ease.
So if anyone else sees this open thread with the axle inside, dont crap yourselves like I did. Its all normal.

Yea XRs have a few peculiar solutions, like the loose brake discs tha wobble (radially too, not just axially like floating discs)

On my '18, I have an axle cover that threads into that exposed area.  Not sure if they did away with Gen 2 for that part.

That "cover" is actually a bolt, BMW call it a screw.!

Gen-2 is different to the Gen-1.

    Gen-1 here..:

When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my Grandfather....not screaming like the passengers in his car..!
