Anyone using the Cardo Freecom 2+ for a comms set on the Gen2 XR ?

I've successfully connected it to the Nav VI, the TFT & my phone, however each time I start the bike it appears I need to go through the pairing process all over again. The NAV connection sometimes works, but the media & phone don't automatically reconnect. I have cleared all connections from all the devices and retried a couple of times, but get the same result each time.

The initial connection seems fine, but surely I shouldn't have to go through pairing things each time I get on the bike ?

I did assume everything would automatically reconnect when I start the bike. Am I expecting too much from the comms set or the bike, or have I made a silly schoolboy error somewhere ?

Any help/advice will be greatfully received before I lose my mind  :087:

    Hi,

following are the spec of this Freecom. looks like you can only use two devices at a time. I use the Sena SRL2 and have similar issues.

This Duo Pack is boxed with 2 x paired Cardo Freecom 2+ intercom units.

    Details:

Intercom communication between passenger and rider or rider to rider (500-meter distance)
2 Bluetooth channels to connect with phone/GPS devices
        Click-to-link for spontaneous intercom conversations
Phone features include make/receive/reject calls, speed dial, conference call with intercom
Stereo Bluetooth (A2PD) for wireless music streaming with music sharing between rider and passenger
Built-in FM radio with RDS and radio sharing
Parallel audio streaming so music and GPS instructions continue during intercom calls (Android only)
        Customizable voice control technology (VOX)
Customizable speaker volume (through AGC) for different ambient noise levels
Cardo Connect app compatible with iOS and Android
Customize setting and software updates through Cardo community
Multilingual setting menu and voice announcements
        Interchangeable hybrid and corded microphones
Slim HD replaceable 40mm stereo speakers
        IP67 waterproof and dustproof
Up to 13 hours talk time

If you are pairing the intercom to the TFT, don't bother pairing to your phone, it's pointless and will cause dramas as you are experiencing.
When you are paired to the nav, ensure it's as an audio connection and not a phone connection, otherwise you will have multiple devices trying to handle a phone call.

I have Freecom 2+ and this is how I set it up

    - Phone is paired with the TFT
    - Phone 1 channel on Freecom is paired with the TFT
    - Phone 2 channel on Freecom is paired with the Navigator 6

Everything works fine. I can receive calls and notifications (for example - Radarbot app) from my phone via TFT, plus voice instructions directly from Nav 6. Haven't experienced any connection loss or pairing issues

To be quite honest I have given up with Bluetooth on the XR, I’m going back to a hard wired Autocom system which I still have that has a Bluetooth connection on that worked just fine on the Gen1 and every other bike and satnav.

Yes, I still use Bluetooth for teaching and it works just fine me to the two trainees all good with the Sena system I run. No satnav involved and not on the XR, I have an F800st for teaching.

The issue is when you want to let your passenger hear the satnav.

I think the big issue is that the TFT and the BMW 5 & 6 nav only seem to allow one Bluetooth connection channel at a time.  You can connect both helmets to the TFT but only one helmet can here the satnat at a time as the pairing does not seem to be able to split the satnav to both helmets on top of that if the satnav is giving directions you cannot talk to the passenger for 15+ seconds!
I’ve tried every channel on my Schuberth C4 and all the channels on the 20s my partner has and every combination on ways to connect to the satnat and TFT  and vice versa with no real success.

    Unless someone know better?
After over thirty + years behind the bars, there's still lots to do and see.

Thanks everyone for your input  :152:

Having read all of the above and had a damn good think about where I'm going wrong  :084: , I've been back out to the bike and once again cleared/reset all connections on all of my devices.

This time I've connected my phone & headset to the TFT only.
No connections to the SatNav - time will tell if I get any voice instructions when using it and whether or not this bothers me too much.

Now everything connects ok when the bike is started.

My phone automatically connects first as the Bluetooth is always on, then I switch on the headset, with both icons showing up at the bottom of the TFT once the connections are made.

I'm keen to have the phone connected not to answer/make calls, but this is where I have my music - I know not everyone agrees with listening to music when riding, but I never play it too loud so it becomes a distraction.

I think my initial thought that everything would just "work" was where I went wrong  :087:

Aha, this is where I'm going wrong ......... that coupled with the fact I'd never read the online instruction manual, only the fold out quick start guide.

I was going about pairing the second channel in the wrong manner. I'll try again tomorrow & hopefully that'll be the end of my issues.
