This is a warning that the thieves are at it again. Central London - My Akrapovic exhaust was stolen.
Bear in mind there are quite a few screws to undo its not that quick to get off.

So now going to have to spend a load of money replacing it.

    In the last 5 years:
    1. one S1000Xr Gen 1 stolen - never recovered
    2. One S1000XR gen 1 stolen recovered  after 15 minutes - £9,500 damage
    3. One S1000XR Gen 2 stolen recovered after 10 minutes - £2,000 damage
    4. One S1000XR Gen 2 exhaust stolen ...

SO that more than 33,000 quid of stolen bikes....its a disease that is on-going. If they steal my bike again, I am giving up motorcycling for good.
My cousin has had 4 bikes stolen from central London, he gave up.

Despite having chains, locks, immobilisers, alarms, hidden markings and trackers they still take the bikes. The police do nothing.
    just give a crime number.

so i am going to see what can be done with regard to un-removeable bolts

Honestly i would consider moving over giving up bikes, I've never had any bikes stolen if you had so many recurring issues I'd look into your habits or if you're being targetted. That's too much bad luck in such a short time. You didn't mention it, im sure you do, but just in case, use a cover and park near other bikes, it's the best deterrent.

Wow! That's a hell of a history of theft. It must wear you down.

I take it you mean that the end can was stolen and not the exhaust?

I’m not sure the process on the 2020 bikes, but can remove the can on my 2016 model in around 45seconds (maybe less).

Anyway- good luck getting it resolved.

    Sorry to hear about that.

TBH when I commute into London these days I use a tatty old Honda scoot. Like you I've had problems with the little theiving scrots in the past so gave up taking my main ride into London. Thought I would hate it but the little Honda is pretty good in the traffic and no one touches it when parked up. I don't even chain it up. Cheap to run etc as well.

Worth a thought but maybe depends where you commute from.  :038:

Even here in good old Brum been there done that and that was 30 years ago, it’s complicated.....depending on where one is on life’s ladder...married/kids/mortgage....motorcycles struggle for priority, Matt hit the nail on the head with running a knacker but which one.

I used to work really unsocial hours and gave up when I walked outside and found my pride and joy disappeared, but realise the benefits of a bike in the London traffic.....my suggestion Tiger 955 great old work horse and worth nothing £2500 will still buy you a good’un and mine is still the only bike I/we have done a 1000 mile day on, regardless I wish you all the best it really is a pain in the backside when all you are trying to do is earn a living and having some thieving scrote steal your bike...or parts.

I did mean the end can.

I did have an old bike for work, but that was not ulez compliant so sold it for £750
This akra endcan costs £1100 alone.

I might buy a second bike, certainly thinking about it.

That sums it up. Sadiq will charge you for an older bike but does nothing about the motorbike crime epidemic!

I’m sorry to hear your story. Your insurance premiums must have rocketed. Of course the scrotes don’t bother with insurance.

Its cyclical. A gang starts up - nicks bikes - makes a bit of money. Police target them, they get arrested and thrown in prison ( should be down a deep well) then the crime goes away.

There is no one single solution to bike theft except dont let it out of your site.

    Each method can be bypassed.
    Front lock - disk lock
    Back lock - chain
    Tracker
    Steering lock
    Immobiliser

Until the manufacturers do something about it it will continue.

Do you remember the smashing of car windows to steal car radios. Once they built the radios into the dash, that killed that 'industry'.

Agreed. I had my TFT stolen on Tuesday night - first ride into London on the S1000XR - usually take my FJR1300. Was apprehensive so parked it on the main Holloway Road in front of the McDonalds and went off to watch the game. TFT was gone when I got back on at 9:45. As I’m sure you know the TFT’s on our bikes can literally be pulled off with a firm grip and then you unplug the connector. Quote from BMW to replace is £1350 and I’ll be sure to buy the third party security bracket and not leave it out of sight if I take it to London again. It bugs me that BMW are making a good profit from these replacements as they can’t cost them more than £200-£300.
