    2021 XR Bren tune questions

Has anyone installed the Bren tune stage 2 on their 2020-2021 XR using the stock can and header? At this point I do not think I will be replacing the header. I am curious at to if you are getting any fault lights or other problems. How does the bike feel from a dead stop while accelerating? Also please let me know if you installed the intake  flapper delete kit and the IAC relocation kit. I am in Colorado. Thanks.

    Bravastar1,

Yep, installed BT stage 1 on my 2021 XR Sport. Does all they say: https://brentuningmoto.com/product/2020-bmw-s1000xr-diagnostic-tool-w-stage-1/ . You do get some backfiring between 5-4K rpm. No faults. If you remove the headers consider an ESE unit; https://www.healtech-electronics.com/products/ese/. Anticipate more backfiring with the BT intake flapper delete kit & IAC relocation kit. I am about t to do the stage 2 w/IAT and intake flappers open via the flash.  I already have the healtech servo buddy on the bike as well.

Waiting for delivery from BT and will report back when completed.

I have had Brentune Stage 1 (with flapper open in software) on my stock Gen2 for some time now and for me it has made that bike better.

    *  Start-up is snappier and punchy before settling immediately into a steady, throaty idle
    *  Throttle response is stronger, smoother and feels more linear with no discernible flat spots
    *  Engine sounds better, a little louder and more "solid" throughout the rev range.
    *  There are satisfying (but not overdone) pops on strong deceleration/overrun in Dynamic and Dynamic Pro. Not as much as the gen1 XR (which I missed sometimes) but the Gen1 pops could be a bit excessive for some tastes.

I always liked this bike but I like it a lot more now. Some of the improvements are difficult to describe effectively but engine seems more sorted, satisfying and "connected"

You can get pops and bangs by simply disabling the exhaust flap (ond Gen 2 flap is fully closed until 6000 rpms) and installing the Healtech ESE to avoid faults.
I did this on mine so I can confirm from personal experience.

I see you gave the brentune a second shot. Waiting to get mine done as well.  Any feedback now that you have had it done?
How is the throttle after the tune?  without the tune, the throttle is very smooth to me while doing cone drills. Is it much different, don't want it to be too sensitive like my K1600 GT?

    mdesjard,

Yep, I like it. Cannot tell you all it does but, my freinds say I am quicker. Find out in a couple weeks when I run the dragon. Best time for me has been 10 minutes on KTM GT.

Throttle actually feels more responsive. No gaps in power.

    Best,

Do it on a weekday!! Good luck.  I should be up around that area in a couple weeks.  Not sure if I will be near the dragon though

I have the Healtech ESE with a Pro Race exhaust slash shorty and GP-R2R shorty and stock tune. Bike is too loud (121db at idle). Wondering if BT will have any affect.

However, worried if I install the BT, will that void my warranty?

I think the warranty topic has been debated to death already. On the Bren Tune topic, you can always flash it to stock if you take the bike in for service. If any issue related or unrelated to the tune arises, BMW can only deny coverage if the issue can be directly traced to a modification or tune which most dealers in the US has already admitted they are not going the extra mile to uncover. But of course you will hear one or two stories and especially the "Guy from Italy" story.
