    2021 S1000XR - Akropovic Header Question

    Hi all,

I am just about to get Akro stainless steal headers installed on my Gen 2 XR. The bike is the M sport so it already has the Akropovic sport can but do I need to worry about getting any faults? I do not have Brentune stage 1 and not planning on getting Brentune stage 2 right away either but do I need to install a healtech ESE? Or disabling the exhaust flap is all that is required?

Put the Akra steel on my gen2 with standard terminal, no fault code and the ECU adjusted everything so no tune at all, and as soon I’ll get my hand on other Akra header gonna do the same with the s1000r

Akra headers come with a small set of stoppers which are installed in your exhaust flap servo to avoid faults. Servo motor remains connected to the bike, but with these stoppers installed in it to make the ECU think that the flap is still there. So you will be fine (and loud  :001:)

Thanks Esso. This is super helpful and you demystified it perfectly. I just dropped it off this morning and should get it back later today or tomorrow morning. Hopefully it's not obnoxiously loud :)

So I have heard so I am actually bracing for it.. Holding on a little tight! I don't usually ride with earplugs but will have to do and also be civil at my local neighborhood.

Akra says 103 dB with headers and slip-on. Stock gen 2 is 94 dB. Both measured at 5.500 Rpm's. To the human ear, every 10dB increment feels and sounds 2 times louder.
But if you look from a dB scale point of view, then it is 10 times louder  :001:
