Slipping clutch - Gen 1 with 5100 miles

Poo. My 4 weeks new to me, beautiful Gen 1 took me to France, but today the clutch starting slipping under load. Then an hour later I couldn't go faster than 40mph, then another hour later would sit in first gear at standstill with no hands.

Hoping BMW Assistance is as good as they say.

Photo was taken today when working fine.

start with the simple - is the clutch lever adjusted properly?   (although it sounds like you may have killed the clutch by continuing to ride.)

It was fine since I had it, fine when I took it to France recently, then today it wasn't, so it's likely operational and not mechanical. Since it was slipping, I only managed around 10 miles so unlikely to damage it to end-of-life equivalent.

It will be mechanical, if the clutch is slipping and the cable adjustment is correct, the clutch is toast and will need to be replaced. Has someone put car engine oil in it..?? Some friction modifiers will quickly kill a wet clutch.

When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my Grandfather....not screaming like the passengers in his car..!

    Smithy.
It was a BMW Approved Used purchase around 4 weeks ago and hasn't been touched.

it would be highly unusual for a clutch to go from fine to #### in 1 day, without there being an external cause.

Only good news being you will have the 2 year warranty with BMW approved used.

Just as well, although heres hoping you get it sorted in quick time with good weather coming. And especially with such low miles on the clock.

Good luck and keep us posted.
