Interesting experiment Antares. We appreciate you sharing this so that we know without having to do a "boring as hell" ride  :821:

Although the blue mark to "gotta cover my butt" suggests that not all the ride was boring ;)

Well that accidental blue smear on my GPS happened a different time, but this ride included about 10-20 miles of traffic too, 40mph signs and crawling traffic, I did try to keep my wrist in control though. Interestingly sitting there for 3 and a half hours with cruise control does a number on your back VS riding normally, who would've thunk  :008:

Without a doubt. I was spent after that and I've done 10hr+ days in the saddle before feeling completely fresh, frequent breaks is the name of the game i guess as well as moving around on the bike.

If you have a Peage-day where you can't be bothered doing the max 130kph - 98RON fuel will see getting 210miles out of a tank with maybe a cupful left.   (I think I managed 219 once)

Doing the math on this results in almost 255 miles out of a tank, and this was with standard, ASDA 95RON with 10% Ethanol, I'm actually not sure what the max fuel consumption the bike can display is (considering the range indicator maxes out at 155 miles for whatever completely arbitrary reason)

But I'll test resetting  MPG reading and rolling down a hill in 6th to see what's the max it can display. If it's higher then this, one day I might do a super economy run with Shell V-power 100RON and no luggage (I had a full top box + full backpack with me) and also a smaller screen in the low position.

Though i'll likely not do the full 200 miles to test that theory haha

I don't know what the most efficient speed is either

At the start I did 60mph sitting in the outside lane until it reached 58.9, but about 1/3 of the way in I was up to 68 GPS, 70 indicated, and the economy remained on that for the rest of the journey.

Is an imperial gallon lager than an American gallon?  I have never gotten 56 mpg, mine is stuck on 45 mpg.  Sometimes, for a short time, I might see 50 mpg.

PS:  ok, found it, 1 Imperial gallon equals 1.2 US gallon.  Big difference.

Yea 58.9 Imperial MPG is about 4.8L/100km which is the more sensible measure anyway lol, my old 125 used to do 3.2-3.3L/100KM, tiny 12L tank ,easily did 220 miles to the tank sitting in 6th on redline, that's the real touring bike :745:

And the rest of the world uses Liters/100km....On my daily commute,, (which is mostly 100kmh motorway), mine averages 4.8L/100km which is ~48mpg (US) and ~58mpg (UK/imperial).

So the theory is that we should be able to get well in excess of 400km (248.5miles) out of a 20L tank....I've never been brave enough to try it though. :012:

I might carry a couple of liters of spare fuel with me one day just as an experiment... Can't hurt to try. :027:

    Smithy.
