    Side Stand modification

The side stand on my 2016 XR has always annoyed me, Too short and the foot is too small, leading to a high risk of falling over.(especially hot tarmac or mud or gravel)
I fixed this by casting  liquid epoxy around the foot. Weighs just 75 grams or so and is a permanent fix.
Use an aerosol paint spray top (diameter 60mm) to cast it in, Put a stainless steel pot scrubber in the inverted spray can top (acts as reinforcement for the resin), put an M10-M12 nut under the foot to extend it about 10mm. Lower the side stand in. I did this solo, but a mate to help would make it easier. You might have to scallop the lid to fit the foot in. I used a bit of duct tape to contain any resin. Pour slow set liquid epoxy resin (eBay, modelling material suppliers etc) over the pot scrubber (i used about 100 ml of resin-some leaked). Leave overnight to set, remove the can lid , clean it up with a file/grinder. Spray with aluminium paint. Bob's your uncle.
