I noticed a rattle on the bike during a recent tour of Normandy but couldn't find anything obvious. Cleaning the bike yesterday I noticed that the foot shift has play on it from side to side. I'm sure this can't be normal? How do I tighten it up?

I haven't noticed that, but I suppose you could fit a nylon washer to take up some of the lateral play if it worries/annoys you?

I think there is a good case for searching through e-bay for things like assortments of 'heat shrink sleeving', 'nuts and bolts', 'assorted nylon washers' - even before you actually need them.

Dude stick me on your  IOU list, saw your post thought i’d Check mine then realised i’d Fitted SW Motech option years ago which are screwed together completely different only to the 2 screws that hold the lever to rest we’re about to drop out 😳 so thanks.

Re the stock version, even a brand spanking new set I bought for stock years ago have some play in them, depending on how much play you have could be anything from a thin shim to a spacer.

Same mine has a lot of side to side play, probably not helped by the tip over I had but from what I've seen it's not substantially more than other bikes my age, that said, last week when I met Af1-windy his gear lever was much more snug than mine. One idea he came up with was take the footpeg off, put a washer next to the shifter, could work.

Edit: ah solution has been mentioned  :046:
