    Soupy's Help Needed
    on: May 12, 2022, 11:52:08 pm

I had a shop install my Soupy's lowering links, they said they did an inch per my request but I'm not sure.

I can get more of the ball of feet on the ground but can't flat foot as I hoped. I'm 5 10" so am I being realistic?

Still have lots of lean angle in regards to the kickstand.

I did my best to get some pics but it was a major pain. The amount of threads showing on the links is the same at both ends.

Would it be not a good idea to go a bit lower??

This is the best I can explain so I hope this made sense.

    Big thanks in advance.

Just adjust it to suit yourself, it ain't that difficult. I bought and installed my own Soupy's links years ago, lowered 25mm both ends.

19mm spanner, undo the locknuts at each end, one end is left hand thread.... and adjust the center piece on each side, make sure you adjust both sides the same amount or one strut will take all the weight.

25mm is darn near an inch so are you referring to just the links when you say "both ends", both ends of the links?

To lower more move the center brass looking piece forward or back?

    Thanks for your patience :002:

By "both ends" l mean front and rear suspension.

The Soupy's links have right and left hand threads, so undoing the lock nuts and turning the center adjustment one way will lengthen, the other will shorten it. When you get the height you want, just tighten the lock nuts, job done. The center piece is cad plated steel not brass, you just turn it one way or the other to raise or lower the suspension. When you stick your head under and have a look you'll understand.

It's difficult to get at with the stock exhaust, l have headers so it's easy to get at.

    I think I'm getting it.

As far as turning the center adjustment, looking at it from the chain side, do you turn towards the back tire to lower or towards the front of the bike?

Last but not least should I expect to flat foot it at 1" lower or am I off base? I don't want to tell the shop they didn't lower it enough when right now I can't prove it. The center adjustment is dead center with about 1/2 of thread showing on both ends so I don't know if that should equal 1" lower or not.

The adjusment ratio is very high, a 1mm change at the shock end will equal ~10mm at the axle end, doesn't take much to get what you're after. If you go to far one way or the other, just readjust to suit, it's a fairly simple setup. The Soupy's links just take the place of the stock dog-bones which have a fixed length.
