    Ignition coil failure

My 2020 XR has done 16 011km without any issues whatsoever. Took it for a ride yesterday and the TFT dashboard lighted up like a Christmas tree.  I managed to get her home in "limp" mode and BMW collected her this morning. Just received feedback that it is the ignition coil that failed and that it would be replaced under warranty. Has anyone else had similar coil failures?

I've not heard of that failure on either versions of the XR.

But - it's electronics, so failures can occur early on.

If really worried you could check out some RR/R forums or sites - but unless there is a voltage spike from some other component - I wouldn't worry.

there have been some coil failures reported in the first year of the latest Gen RR, pretty well documented on the RR forums.

Common fault on the RR (all gens) so not surprised to see it turn up on the XR

BMW on call collected my bike on Monday and had it checked on the computer. Coil failure was determined on one of the cylinders. BMW replaced all 4 of them at no charge. Got her back on Friday and she purrs like a kitten again :002:

Looks like I have the same problem. 2020 with just over 21k km’s on the clock.
Engine running on 3 cylinders, but instead of red message my TFT shows “yellow” one, saying “Engine! Have it checked by a specialist workshop” accompanied by the blinking yellow engine check light.
According to the user manual this error is emission related, but the engine is definitely running on 3 cylinders. Left it at the at the dealers, waiting for their feedback
