Nop but I do have the BMW full workshop manual on DVD for most BMW Bikes including the XR so may be an investment at some point

After over thirty + years behind the bars, there's still lots to do and see.

Friend of mine has one that he uses on his GS. He swears by it. Great for checking & clearing fault codes and, AFAIK, it also resets the 'service due' notification if you don't go to the dealer for the service.
I found his one handy for my bike at times  :038:

Excellent. Yes I think it'll be vital on my long journey but I want to make sure it's functional before I take the plunge.
I'm going to try and wangle the workshop DVD as part of my purchase.

I have one, easy to use and effective.  Hook up was easy and like the convenience of the app on my phone so I don't need the laptop nearby.  Don't like the possibility of ignoring REAL warning lights because of a pesky service light for a simple oil change that a dealer would have to clear without the 911.
    RIde safe, ride often,

I use the unit and it works very well. A laptop with the application works best since it provides greater functionalitry than a mobile phone with the application.
I can analyze codes and reset. I can reset service indicators and said intervals. Good customer support. The unit is good for a few bikes and the subscription can
be expanded to any number of bikes.

I am located in the State of Oregon, USA
