Just to share with UK members that I ordered a new helmet from Germany (moto-thek shop) for delivery to the UK. I double checked that helmets are VAT (sales tax) free and made the order. The seller in Germany asked, after I placed , the order if I wanted to tho ahead as there were likely charges/taxes to be paid. Confidently or arrogantly 😊 I said that it was ok and would not be a problem. I was right the helmet is VAT free...so far so good....but...

    Import Charges
    VAT:
    0.00
    Brokerage Charges:
    11.50
    Freight Charges:
    0.00
    Government Charges:
    57.35

So a total of £68.85 to pay. The "Brokerage " charge is UPS gouging the customer . The seller and UPS were not able to explain or give a breakdown for "Government charges"

When I bought a similar item from a different seller in the Netherlands (Chromeburner) I had no problem and nothing to pay so choose your seller carefully and try to avoid any seller using UPS

To end on a happier note even with the "charges" the helmet is still a decent buy 😁

Yes - not a great situation.

If the helmet is for use in UK, I think I would simply opt for UK purchase - I think it will make any warranty claims or simply return after delivery, a lot easier.

You are not wrong in your thinking . When I said "decent buy" it was a face saver 😁 as now the helmet will be the same price  as buying in the UK so why bother 😊

Having been dancing around my handbag...weighing up the pro’s and cons of a set of rearsets which really is a separate issue, ended up buying a secondhand set which needed a few bolts and washers ordered them from Performance Parts near Daventry, 4 short bolts and custom washers that hold the carbon heal guards on and 2 plastic washers 20 quid would been a rip off......
