That's odd, I had issues with the halogens melting or singeing the LED running lights as they are very close, one of the reasons I moved to LED, but it never melted the actual headlight housing. If you have the Central LED strip, try to turn your DRL to auto so your low beam runs less

That phillips sounds like a bog standard halogen bulb to me, I don't think getting another one would be any different. Some halogens run hotter than others, especially high performance ones, so might be worth looking into getting some "extra life" or "long" life halogens, at least for the low beam and use high performance ones for the high beam, it's what i used to do on all my bikes.

That's the low beam you're talking about, when sitting on the bike, right light is Low beam, that's always on when the bike is running and the DRL is OFF, as it does on all modern bikes.
High beam is the one on the left that you toggle with the flasher button, by pushing it forwards, next to your hazard button there should be a similar grey button on the left with a light on it, that's what you use to manually toggle your DRL, with the DRL on, the sidelights are OFF and only the DRL strip lights up. If you go into your settings and set the DRL to AUTO, it'll turn your DRL strip on and off automatically based on ambient light.
