    Battery Holder Bracket

Hi, has anyone else had an issue with the battery hold down bracket on these bikes. I noticed mine had snapped when I replaced the battery, and thought nothing of it until a friend with the same bike had the identical problem. At around $24 to replace this really rubbish bracket that will break again, I am keen to know if these are isolated cases, or if other people have had the same issue.

Looked solid enough to me, after 37k bumpy miles still holding the battery just fine, if I were you though I'd just make a new one, go to any hardware store, find a clip and bend it where it needs to be. you're sorted for 2 bucks

Very common on Gen-1, l suspect high frequency vibration might be the cause...just fabricate a replacement out of aluminium...job done.

Thanks, that's what I figured, but BMW are saying my case is rare. I suspect most sane people wouldn't spend that money on another junk bracket and don't bother to complain as the guarantee has probably expired by the time they notice it. BMW may be unaware there is any problem (not convinced though, easier and cheaper to deny!).

It's far from rare and they, (BMW), do indeed know about it....there's numerous posts about it on here and multiple threads on the XR bookface groups as well.
