Good morning gentlemen and ladies, I've been preemptive and joined your community early hoping for some honest advice. I'm just about to push the button on a 2015 S1000XR with 14k miles. It appears to have had the bar end weight mod done but other than that seems pretty stock.
Is there anything specific I should check/lookout for other than the obvious service history?
Gotta be honest I'm really excited about this machine.
Any useful hints or tips would be greatly appreciated.

You might notice a horrible rattle when the engine starts for a second or 2, that's normal, it's the oil actuated cam chain tensioner. Most people replace theirs with a manual option to get rid of that noise entirely. Apart from that just generic look over for leaks, wear and tear. These bikes are pretty good at dealing with winter, only areas that are likely to experience corrosion are a few of the lesser quality bolts near the bottom, or ones such as the luggage rack bolts, and your wearables such as pads, discs, chains. If those are clean, the rest of the bike is also likely clean. Good luck
