    My XR has done 25000kms and am starting to getting metal shavings on the sump plug magnet. I this normal after this many kms?

    Some is normal, yes.  My '16 has 60,000 miles and I run 20/50, not seeing much on the magnet since I went to thicker oil. 
    I had an '18 model prior and I always had some "metal hair" on the magnet.
    You can also add some Lucas synthetic oil additive to your next oil change if you don't want to use heavier viscosity.

    Earlier in my ownership I got a few thin metal hairs that had me worried too but they started to get smaller and disappeared completely around the 30k mark.

    Yeah it may have started to have some filings at 10000kms and after I changed to Castrol Power 1 and started doing some track days on it. Here hoping the filings go away after 30000kms!!!

    56,000 km on mine and she's pretty clean on the magnet....did get a few "pubes" of metal early on during the break in period and up to maybe 15k km...but relatively clean now. I do all my own servicing and check it every time to make sure engine and gearbox parts are still where they're supposed to be. :015:
