Bought the XR to compete in the International Police Rally in Liege in May. Probably too much bike for the task but an absolute hoot all the same. Even won a cup😀
Still trying to work out what the the Rain and Road modes are for and have solved the 4500 - 5500 rpm vibration problem with a little help from a BMW specialist.
Now done 3500 miles and planning to take it to St Petersburgh in September.

It appears that it was very simple. BMW needed something on the dial between 0 and 7000 rpm, you're not actually expected to ride it in that range😂😂😂😂

seems straightforward to me - keep the revs over 7000 and you will not get the nasty vibrations
as someone else has said above, many people come to the XR from a boxer twin. Some then ride the XR like a twin using high gears and keeping the revs at 5k, exactly where the vibrations come.

I think it is more an Italian method of riding/driving. Select the lowest gear possible that does not end in the engine seizing. Comes from their early years, riding 50cc 2 strokes and driving Fiat Pandas.

I have used another solution. Between 4500 & 5500, I ride hands free. With my feet off of the pegs. I can also eat my sandwiches at this point, and quaff on can of lager. So have never felt these so called Vibes.
