    Cradle software upgrade

    Hello

Does anyone know if there are software upgrades for the BME Connected Cradle?

How are they upgraded? Via the BMW diags / dealer? or is it something we mortals can do?

    By the way:
I am using a Oneplus Nord.
I did have some odd connection problems - very hit and miss. However a few weeks ago there was an android update ( to Version 12) and this seems to have cured all ills. It now connects 100% of the time.
This phone has no problem with the camera after being used many times now in the cradle.

Is this the BMW ConnectedRide cradle?  I don't have an answer to your question, but I might have a question for you if you are using one on a gen 1.  :)

EDIT - I did look around in the app when connected to the bike/cradle and didn't see any way to update it.  Just turn charging on and off..

    Yes,

    The BMW connected cradle.

I am using it on a Gen 2. SO can't really answer anything on the Gen 1. Except it fits the same cradle.

By the way there are 2 versions of the BMW Connected Cradle.

If you all remember there was an intial batch then quite a few months of delay until they were available again.

I got the second version. I know they updated the cradle to V2 to improve reliabiity.

Also I will be very surprised if the BMW Connected cradle Firmware cannot be upgraded.

    Who knows the answer?

Yeah, I have a gen 1 and a gen 2, and my question was going to be if the cradle not charging a phone on gen 1 is normal.  The little amber/green light on the bottom left side doesn't even light up on my gen 1.  I already had a usb cable and adapter on my gen 1 with a ram mount so I just rerouted it to charge the phone in the connected cradle and was just using it as a phone holder, but the more I thought about it the more it didn't make sense to me.  If the cradle has power it's just a wireless charging base so why wouldn't it charge as long as it was being fed the right voltage.  It shouldn't care if the source is a gen 1 or gen 2.  Anyway, rather than ask I figured I would dig into it today instead of doing all the other chores I was supposed to be doing.  Sure enough, the smooth brained induhvidual who installed my gps prep didn't do it correctly.  I have owned it since new so it was either BMW or the dealer..not sure if these come factory installed or are a dealer assembly item.  Anyway, they ran the cables down the right side of the instrument cluster and had it connected into some rando connector near the ESA module on the right side of the bike with the other one just stuffed into a crack.  The correct installation takes the cables down the left side of the instrument cluster and into a plug on the left side of the bike near the horn.  I haven't noticed it in 4 years since I never tried to use the GPS prep until I bought the cradle for the gen 2.

Now I just need to reassemble everything and clean up the wiring, but green light = good and phone is charging so at least that's something.

Resisting urge to rant here, but this is exactly why not having a service manual and being forced to rely on dealers to service our bikes is really going to suck with gen 2.
