Hey, I was reading that you need a chain with 128 links instead of 120 on s1000xr. Is it necessary? I can't seem to find any 128 link chains in Thailand where I'm at now, they only have 120.

I was thinking about getting a RK chain, 525 GXW, it's around 150 pounds with front and rear sprockets, but it's 120 links again. Will it be a problem?

If you remove 8 links - think of it as 4 per leg (top and bottom)

I can’t see there being 4 links-worth of adjustment on the axle to compensate?

Measure the distance between centers and x 4.

If you have stock sprockets, 17/45....a 120 link chain will not fit...at best there is only two or three links worth of adjustment available.
