    West Coast meet?
    on: September 27, 2022, 04:26:09 pm

In the past with other forums, I have created or attended a West Coast meet up. I know most of the forum members here are on the other side of the lake, but I figured I would start a thread for the West Coast guys.

I've been trying to find a reason to go on extended rides/trips since buying this XR and think it would be a fun trip to do and meet local members.

Anyone out there in the West Coast?

Have you had a look at the members map? Shows a few down your way.

I have, but some of them aren't active which is a bummer...

West, but far north from you.

I did a Ducati West Coast Meet back in 2019 at Lake Almanor, a lot of fun but then Pandemic and I traded my Multi for an XR.

I did the one earlier this year on my Hypermotard, but then as you can see, I sold it and got my XR.

I think we may plan a trip up to the Bay Area and do something north of Sonoma/Sacramento.

On the other hand, my coworker and I have a 1,100 mile ride next weekend. Route is to go from San Diego to La, LA to the Tehachap Loop Scenic View. From there we head to Aspendell, passing through Havilah, which is our first stop of the the trip. Second day we will head up to Yosemite, head back down to Springville, passing through Fresno. For the 3rd day, we head down to Ponderosa and east through Sherman Pass Road. Hopefully that road is open so we can pass through to Kennedy Meadows. From there, we head straight back down to San Diego.

That looks like a great ride. I live in Phoenix, AZ metro area. Just got my XR a couple of months ago. How is it on those long days ? I haven't been on a real ride since i did Three Flags in 2005 on a Honda ST1100. Oh the days of being single and having a job that allowed much vacation time .....

It was an amazing ride, see this thread that I just posted: https://www.s1000xr.uk/index.php/topic,6840.new.html#new

I bought the bike with the upgraded Wunderlich gel seat. After over 1k miles, no complaints. I was definitely tired after each day, but I was not sore or anything.

Coworker and I discussed about heading to Grand Canyon next (taking the long way).

That's a great thread. Thanks for posting. What kind of hard bags ? I have the soft Mototech right now. I plan on keeping this bike for a while so I have time to save for upgrades  :002:

Those are BMW hard cases. I was thinking of going Shad, but I like the look of the BMW ones. The bike also came optioned with brackets for BMW cases.

They're hard to find but I found someone on the Facebook XR group that was selling them.
