    Alternate to Brentune, BHP-UK Anyone?

Gen 2 XR with full Akro and CAT delete. While I hear a few folks have BrenTune, I do hear some horror stories from my dealer (Max BMW) that he has seen a total of 6 blown engines on RRs (hearsay from the service rep but he also mentioned most likely the fault of the riders pinning it max rpm on highways) but I am hesitant because solely because of the cost. Stage 2 now requires purchase of Stage 1 which was not needed earlier this year and looking at $1100+.

Any one recommend BHP-UK tune? Is it a UK version of Brentune? I see the flashing device is very similar. Any one who used them or any opinion in general?

Interesting, I didn't know they done this. It is the Dimsport My Genius handheld with their branding on it (the same unit Brenn Tuning use with their branding on it).

£449 with a generic map is a reasonable price depending on the results.

Yep, the price point is attractive but they don't really describe much about the tune itself. I don't see them mentioned in many forums so I thought I would ask here. I have also emailed them a few questions and will share the response.

have done the BHPUK tune for the XR, and in my personal experience it completely transformed the bike.

I still have the cat fitted with an open exhaust servo.

It is a lot easier to ride at slow speeds, has way more grunt in the lower rpms. Also the qs is smoother. And they also fixed the annoying high revving cold start.

All these changes are very noticeable when you are coming from a stock tune.

I've done 6000kms with the tune and wouldn't want to go back.

It is definitly worth it in my opinion.

My mate and I have almost identical 22 bikes. We visited BHP in May to get his bike mapped. Having ridden them back to back in the same day, happy to report the remap is excellent, and totally agree with all Mitch's points.

The only niggle would be that there doesn't seem to be any discernible difference in the riding modes. Rain, Road, Dynamic all seem to be the same. Can anyone else confirm?

Thank you Mitch and Badders. So I ordered the tuner 2 weeks ago. The shipping was relatively quick from UK to US.

I downloaded the ECU map and sent it over to BHP exactly a week ago but they seem to have issues mapping the file. They claim I have the latest ECU software update and they are running into some issues. Hopefully they don’t screw this up.

Will keep everyone posted on my journey. I was hoping to get it last week to test out the bike while we had a relatively nice weather but now I am hoping fairy god weather to smile on me whenever I get the map back.

They had the same issue when tuning my file. It was cracked within a week. And received a solid tune.

What is your current software version?

    Mine currently has the 022_008_020

Whent for a 10k kms service yesterday and it wasn't updated to any newer one, if there is any.

I am pretty sure that’s the version as I got mine updated with the Akro straight pipe install earlier this year in May.

I am at work so can’t check it but if they had already cracked this latest ECU version through yours, I am wondering why the delay on mine then! Did yours have the full Akra system?

No, because i would get in trouble with the law if i did.

Mine has stock headers with factory akrapovic slip-on, and the exhaust servo is removed.

    Badders

Played today with the rain and my custom set dynamic pro mode on my way home, and i could tell the difference between the two.

If you ride a bit more aggressive, you can feel that rain mode doesn't have that peaky power and sharp throttle response that dynamic modes does have.
