    2020 S1000XR Front Pads Dilema?!

OK, I'm trying to buy front pads for my 2020 S1000XR

My dealer used my VIN and brake pads pull up in the system as 34118405104

HOWEVER, there's another part # that's pulls up with correct image of the pads 34118548028, which is what I actually have instead of the above.

So, I assume it's BMW vs Brembo brakes. But why is my VIN coming up with wrong part#, what is going on. Both part #s on official dealer says it will fit my 2020 S1000XR.

bikes made in 2020 had Hayes/BMW brakes but I believe some bikes had Brembo brakes retrofitted if they had some of the faulty Hayes units. Have you had the bike from new? Maybe your bike has had replacement calipers?

I bought it used, I'm 3rd owner 12k miles. Here is the window sticker, so by the looks of it it did have BMW brakes, but one of the previous owns put Brembos. I would assume the sticker would say Brembo brakes? right?

I don't think you can tell from the sticker..  here's one from a 2021 that has Brembos.  You'd have to check the VIN and see if it got recalled since the Hayes switch was a recall due to leaking calipers if memory serves.  I haven't really looked yet since I am a waaays off from needing pads on my gen 2, but EBC's were easily sourced for my gen 1 and it has similar Brembo calipers.

Damn OK, so maybe possible recall than, but I have a feeling that one of the previous guys put them on there, he was or seemed like a race type a guy, he did put full Akro exhaust on it and Brentuned it.

That could be...I wonder if running the VIN would help.  I bet the shop/BMW would have a record of doing the recall work.  If it was never done then I bet the previous owner put them on.

Dealer ran the VIN and it shows that 34118405104 is the correct pads.

But these are the correct ones, based on a physical pads I have. 34118548028

That pic looks right to me, but maybe someone that has already changed them out will comment.  I think that corresponds to EBC FA630HH.

EDIT - my money is that you are right and it is part 34118548028.  That's the same brake pads as the gen 1.  I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the gen 1 and gen 2 Brembo calipers are identical or at least they take the same pads.  I looked on a couple of parts fiches and it looks to me like that PN as well as EBC FA630HH will fit the front calipers on both gen 1 and gen 2.  That works out for me...now I only have to stock one type of brake pad.

EDIT - meh, I was curious so kept poking around.  Here's the link to the replacement left Brembo caliper.  You can see at the bottom of the page under "fitment" that it's the same part for both gen 1 and gen 2 XR so that seals it for me.  Same calipers and same replacement pads.

I was looking at EBC FA630HH, but something doesn't sit right with them. The sizes don't make sense to me.

    Here are FA630HH

I measured Brembo pads that I currently have, and they are about 82.5mm x 49mm x 8mm, it's like the Brembos are smaller and shorter. Thickness seems to be the same. So, I'm just going to buy the Brembos, even tho they are twice the price.

I'd check out SBS, better pads than EBC HH or Brembo Stocks at half the price, and they are not some boutique retailer, they've been  around for years and recently bought by Brembo.
