This is my fourth BMW, and I have needed a custom seat on every one. HUGE shout out to Seth Laam for my awesome custom saddle.
Out of 5 stars, I’d give the OEM on my Gen2 about 2 stars for comfort. I tried the Corbin. That got 2-3/4, maybe 3 stars.
I give the Laam 4-1/2 stars. Raised me up by about an inch and a half (I’m 6-4”), and made a huge difference on my knees. Raised the front of the saddle to keep me from constantly sliding into the tank. I can be in the saddle all day now. The seat pocket is only up 1-1/2” from the OEM seat pocket. The front is raised 2-1/2 - 3” (keeps me back in the seat), so it makes the whole seat look higher.
Overall, the seat pocket (for the rider’s a**) is about 4” wider than OEM.
Looks like a TON of cushy padding? It’s not.
Very firm foam, with only the top 1/2” layer is padded. It's the shape that matters, not a bunch of padding. If I head out for a ride, I am typically gone for 5-8 hours of twisties, or for multiple days. I can spend a lot more time in the saddle feeling comfortable now.
There’s a before and after pic here too. I did a ride in. Seth had me sit on the bike, and we discussed my pain points. If you don't do a ride in, you send him a pic of you sitting on your bike, and you discus what he sees. Of course, you'll pay to ship your seat to him, and have the "new" seat shipped back. If you feel like riding to Northern CA (USA) do a ride in. I was US$518 out the door (vinyl, not leather). Leather costs $200 more, then you have to care for it...
