According to dealer the launch of a new XR with a 200 + BHP shift cam engine is imminent. As with the recent revision to the S1000R. the high performance engine will only be available via a new M option bike at additional cost. Personally I am very happy with the 165 BHP option.  :046:

Unless the low down/mid range torque is much better - for msot people the current version is more than adequate.

And it sounds like you have to rev the s1000r M high to get that power

considering they haven't announced the new base bike yet, it would make absolutely no sense to announce this higher spec bike. I suspect your dealer is making things up.

I'm also happy with 165 BHP.....but would't it be great to have a little more...especially since the "shift cam" engine will cure city / low speed engine fuelling hunting...that the current bike suffers from?

What makes you think that it would do that - its to do with the engine set to run very lean isn't it.

I would be happy if they removed that awful revving every time you start the bike - really hate that

BMW has done very little else with the new XR other than mess around with the colours and of course put the price up

£19.5k for the M S1000R no doubt the M spec XR will be at least that - thats £2k more than the TE XR - quite a lot :745:
