After a few months delay I'm finally a member. I picked up my 2022 BMW S1000XR Triple Black this past week. Got a really nice fall day to pick it up as well. I come from a 2006 Triumph Sprint ST I put 80,000 km on over the years. This is my first new bike ever as all my previous ones were at least 2 years old (or more). Also my first BMW.
I was looking for a more comfortable ride than the tight Triumph. I enjoyed the sporty nature of the Triumph and didn't want to give up any performance. I was also keen on getting the hard panniers as I only got the soft bags before. I'm pretty impressed with the performance of the bike and I think I made huge gains on the performance front. The luggage system is really clean and easy, with tons of space. The riding position will take a bit of getting used to. I find I need to keep from leaning into the bars too much.
Anyways, looking forward to warmer weather.

I lived in the Bay area for a short while and enjoyed the roads out there. Alice's was a great place to stop for lunch.

Yeah, Alice's has been there for as long as I can remember. I spent much of my youth, late 80's and early 90's, riding around that area and stopping for a great breakfast at Alice's. I just don't make it up there much anymore as it's just too crowded on the weekends.
