I will be ordering a new S 1000 XR in the new year.  My preferred spec includes the M package, so a white machine.   The obvious pannier and top box trim colour to order is white too, but I'm trying to find some images of luggage with the red trim on a white XR to help me decide.  No joy in the forum gallery so far, so does this simply indicate that it's a bad idea - or does a fellow forum user have some pics of this combination to share?

    Cheers!

I don't believe the "M" package XR has been released yet...so you may be the first......which is possibly why you can't find any pics.

That's strange as I have had an S1000XR with M package for a year.

I think smithy is referring to an "M 1000 XR" that doesn't yet exist, compared to an S 1000 XR with the M package* that I am referring to and that you understand, Fumes.

*The M package (sold in the UK at least) comprises of white paint with M sport decals, forged wheels, sports silencer, endurance chain, sports windscreen and lightweight battery as a package together, all for the list price of GBP 2,755 at the time of writing.  You can't have a new XR in white without the bundle.

What I am after is simply some photos of a white XR with red luggage to help me decide if this aesthetic works.

    Cheers!

I have seen photo's of white XR's (gen1 and 2) with red panniers, but can't remember where, and my opinion is it looks shite. Just wrong, red panniers stand out far too much.
But it's not a big job to remove the covers and get them painted

EDIT - Just found this, on ebay so more pics there but link didn't seem to work, knew I'd seen it . . . . . . . . gen2 doesn't look as bad as gen1 as not as much red but still not a fan

Thank you for that, RyanGTXR.  Agreed.  It doesn't work.  I'll stick with ordering white trim inlays and then consider repainting with blue; I just taught myself how to replace one colour with another in Photoshop (very easy) and using the image you found, overpainted the red inlay with blue sampled from below the XR logo.  Looks nice.  Anyway, I will start with white.

Thanks again for your help - and a good image to work with once I remembered I had Photoshop!

Yeah, my bad :003: That was my thinking, the new "M1000XR", will be a beast if "rumors/reports" are true....The normal old XR with the "M" stickers....no real difference from a garden variety XR apart from the stickers/colours.

I meant performance wise there's no difference ...but yeah l get your point. All the M package parts can be easily fitted to a non M machine. The proper "M1000XR" will be a monster if rumours are true.
