Muffler tape/protector?

I have a (black) Arrow exhaust and the bottom of the passenger foot peg touches the top of the muffler when the peg is weighted.  I was thinking about putting a small piece of black tape underneath to prevent scuffing.  Any ideas what would work?  Something like silicone or electrical tape but that can resist the high heat of the muffler. 

Deleting the passenger pegs is not an option btw :) .

Something  similar to this might help? No doubt there are many variations available in the USA?

Thank you!  That's pretty much exactly what I got but in black.  Put two layers underneath the foot peg.  We'll see how it holds up.
