Nice one. What are the riding options in Singapore? There’s nowhere to go on it other than across to Malaysia, otherwise just a lot of bike for the island? Could you take a ferry to Indonesia? Wondering as my bro lives in Singapore and he has decided not to bother with a bike.
The main reason - perhaps the only reason - not to have a bike here is cost. The taxes are brutal, and even if you import your own bike, there are some serious costs involved.
However, despite the costs, I wouldn’t be without my bike. It’s handy for running errands around the city, and parking is cheaper (and more convenient) than with a car.
The riding in Malaysia is some of the best I have done anywhere in the world. I have a few friends who ride, and we often go across the border just for a few hours at the weekend - leave before sun up, back around lunchtime. Is a lot of fun.
If you have a weekend, heading to KL and then up to the Cameron Highlands is awesome. If you have longer, you can ride through Malaysia, into Thailand. With enough time you can get up to Chiang Mai.
I have never taken my bike to Indonesia, but I know people who have.
I feel lucky to have a bike here. Has definitely made my time here more enjoyable. An added bonus is the circle of friends that I’ve met via motorcycling.
