Whats under the seat

Being that the pigtail was routed on the right side from the dealership
went ahead rerouted the pigtail to the left side, so I can connect my heated liner
Didn't realize there was so much real estate under the seat, I feel there may be something missing? the tool kit was there
but wasn't rubber banded down and there was a rubber piece just laying in there, anyone know what this is
(photo below) and just from looking at the photos are there things missing?

The empty space next to the battery is for alarm system. the connector is for alarm system. the other one is for storage, hence the USB.

Yeah the alarm system came to me after..... and for the latter, I know it's for storage,
the void for the alarm is what threw me off
Now how about that loose rubber thing floating around in the storage area... any idea?

I can't see any rubber item? BTW that USB thing reduces the effective available space by an 20%. I've got an ali 2xUSB under the left panel.

Please refer to my second photo for the rubber item, as for the USB taking up real estate I'm ok with it I only keep reggie and insurance cards in there

The 'Rubber Thing" is the COVER POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL for a Lithium battery:
https://www.ascycles.com/bmw/2020/S1000XR/General%20Electrical%20System/Lithium%20ion%20battery.html#PartsTable
The tool kit that comes with the XR is not very useful. I had to get the dealer to order one for me FREE because, it was not on my new 2021 XR.
Best,
Doc

Hmm
So its a terminal cover for the Lithium batt. Wondering if this bike was spec'd with the lithium batt. and they swapped it on me?? I have the regular AGM in there

Plug your VIN into the mdecoder and it should tell you what equipment your bike was equipped with -
https://www.mdecoder.com/
Mine came with the "M" battery and the VIN decoder lists that option as: X053B M Lightweight Battery

You can't teach pigs to sing - it only frustrates you and annoys the pig.

Haha, I thought that was a bag with a waterproof cable port... Wondered why you included that pic... I moved that alarm connector to the fuse and OBD area, removed the tab, and my tire repair kit fits nicely in that spot

That's a bit of an understatement
I've replaced it with a Stanley multi function ratchet screwdriver, most bits replaced by torx. Sits in the same spot in the seat
