    LED Mist lights installation

    Hello y’all,
    I’m looking to install LED mist lamps on my gen 1 XR. I want to connect both using the accessory connector my GPS Mount used to be plugged into. However I’m not sure how much amps and watts this connector can handle and if it’s necessary to use a relay.

    Both lamps draw 10w but not sure about the amps, my plan was to wire them up to a switch (on/off) and place a small fuse before connecting to the accessory plug. Not sure about a relay since the lights are either on or off..

    Amps=Watts/Volts  (10+10)/12= 1.67 amp
    However, the resistance of 7.2 ohms may well trigger an error
    Safer to use a relay switched separate wiring
    or the best, but more expensive, option would be a HEX exCAN

    This would also allow you to independently switch your fog lamps on/off with a long press of the indicator switch

    I haven't tried it since I always leave them on, but supposedly the capability is there.

    https://www.hexezcan.com/software/

    Step 4

    Auxiliary lights can be activated or deactivated
    BMW for R1200 LC/ K1600/ F750/ F850/ S1000XR
    Auxiliary lights one can be toggled on and off by holding in the turn signal cancel button for 3s. Auxiliary lights two can be toggled on or off by triple clicking the turn signal cancel button.

    If configured, the brake, accessory and horn outputs will remain active when the front auxiliary lights are deactivated.

    Perfect, I'll give it a go, just out of interest mind. Like you I always have them on but good to know they can be turned off/on if I wanted to. Thank you..  :028:

    Yeah, same...I'm going down to do it now actually.  I prob read it when I installed them 4-5 years ago and then forgot since I never used that capability.

    Would you say It’s possible to connect this relay to the accessory socket? I would like the light to turn off when the contact turns off. In the passive even ran a splice on the headlights so that when the adaptive lights turn on in the dark it automatically turns on the extra lights
