I would of searched but wouldn't know how to word it... I'm sure they're not called lobster mitts??
So I don't mind riding all seasons, unfortunately my hands don't, I have a pair of Wunderlich but they are more for bikes that have no hand guards (like my R1250R)
the fatter Wunderlichs are expensive and I think backordered
Anyone have experience with other brands?

For really cold weather (single digits up to around 30 or so) I had Barkbuster Storm handguards on my bikes with the much larger BBZ's (https://barkbusters.net/products/bbz/) over the top to really block wind.  Pair that with heated grips on high setting and Gerbing's heated gloves and it worked pretty well at least for relatively short distances.  A lot of guys in the adv community also swear by hippo hands, but they weren't making them back when I was commuting in those temps (https://www.hippohands.com/).

I put Barkbusters Blizzard on my XR in Winter. Sure, it looks pretty dorky, but my digits stay nice and toasty.

I prefer bar muffs and lighter gloves with the heated grips on - the heated grips on my R1200RS are much better than those on my XR!

I have a pair of these Richa Arctic https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/69186 which are okay but I prefer to use muffs. I only use them on a trip if I get a really wet or cold day when the muffs are at home.

A friend has recently bought these lobster gloves from Keis - heated! Seems very happy with them, but he works in the City of London so does not worry about the price. https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/558201

Another friend swears by the 2 chamber gloves by Rukka with his heated grips on an FJR1300. He says you get more benefit from the heated grips and the back of your hand is better insulated. https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/98200

Oxford do a relatively cheap pair of lobster jobs £49 https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/590272

Awesome suggestions greatly appreciated, with the replies now I know that they’re called…. Bar mitts
So bark busters they need to be used with their guards or can they used universally?

You can put the BBZ/blizzards on over most any handguard if memory serves (@SimonUK can prob confirm for the XR).  I think I had them on my XR at one point, but can't remember for sure.  They bolt on the bar end using the stock bolt and have a velcro loop that goes around the other end of the guard near the mirror.  I didn't commute on my XR too often and I only rode in ridiculous temperatures when I had to so they live on a shelf in my garage now that I don't commute anymore.

I had to run down to the garage anyway so I held them up to gauge fit.  I think they fit fine with the stock XR handguards (pictured below on my gen 2, but I held them up to my gen 1 with the same results).  My memory was wrong and it isn't a velcro attachment near the mirror stalk, but instead a loop of webbing and a fastex buckle so actually more secure than I remembered.  Pop out the bar end bolt and thread that through the BBZ and you should be good to go.

I find the Gerbing heated gloves with the standard handguards are sufficient for me. I did open the gloves heating settings so they have the full 4 settings (they come with only the 2 lower settings open but they allow you to open the other 2 settings at your own risk). I start with the hot setting and then turn them down as I warm up. I have them wired into the bike via a hex ezican.

Tried a pair that a friend lent… have stock BMW hand guards with Givi extensions…. my finger tips still froze (32-38 degrees F )
Luckily I was able to try out before committing, I think an “overall” will work better for me since it’s only my finger tips that get cold

Thanks for getting those out.. Will add to research list… do like the size and looks… seems it will do the job at blocking enough wind to keep finger tips thawed
