    Gen 1 Fuel capacity

Decided to check how many miles I would get after range got to zero, and then see how much fuel I could get in after I did the fuel filler mod(drilling 2off 4mm holes near the top of the filler neck).
I managed 12.8 miles after zero before the engine started to splutter. I put in the 2 litres I had with me and travelled 1/2 a mile to the nearest petrol station more by luck than planning. I then managed to get 19.89 litres in without faffing about for the last bit.
So I now have a 21.89 litre fuel tank. Over the last 5k miles I have averaged 41 mpg so that gives me a range of 197.68 miles to empty. The dash still says 155miles range though!!
Has anybody else done this experiment?
    What could possibly go wrong!!

Touring Europe on a Gen 1 Tuono cured my range anxiety...  :087:

PS and caused my LFA :-)

Seriously though, this information on range is really good to know. Cheers..   :028:

I managed about 11 1/2 miles after showing empty on my gen 1 before it started to splutter. Luckily I was very close to a petrol station at that point.
Haven't tried it on my gen 2 but I assume it is similar.

I am doing a lap round Scotland in May with my Brother who rides a K1600GT,  and that thing has a 300mile range, so didn't want him going on about my small tank all the while :745:

The worrying thing about this post is, you're going to Scotland in May.. :015: Don't forget your waterproofs...  :001:

Did it in May 2017, and only had rain on the way to Scotland. Once there it only rained at night.  So hoping for the same, but I do have some very good gear so not worried. Also riding intherainis good for your skills :138:
