    Sprocket carrier issue??

Fitted new chain and tyres. Noticed when the wheel was fitted and running in gear some movement when looking down the length of the chain, sort of side to side. Antares and I had a good look at it this morning and decided the wheel is running true but the sprocket carrier isn't seating level in the wheel hub. We took the wheel off, checked everything over, nothing in the way and nothing out of order other than a small lug on the inside seemed to have a little wear.

Tried fitting the sprocket carrier in a different place and re fitted the wheel, the side to side movement was still there, if a little less obvious.

Anyone had this issue or know anything about this and have a solution or should I not worry about it?

I'm worried that you two seem to be a 'couple'  :004:

But - without seeing what you are seeing - it's hard to tell what you are describing

Measure everything, think "what has been altered", and think it through.

No, we just actually ride our bikes rather than talk about them

I'll make a video and see if it shows up...  :028:

That's a video of the bike, not me and Antares..  :164: :0

Videos are pretty hard to interpret, but I would have thought that two of you - looking at the play and discussing realtime what you were seeing, would solve it.

I know St Valentines day is coming up - but stay focused  :152:

Jokes aside it is a bit odd, the carrier is not quite flat against the hub, we're talking about 1mm runout or so basically what you'd expect to see with heavily warped rotors, except the wheel is true, the brake disc is true, it's only the sprocket carrier that's out of alignment. It seems as if it wasn't fully seater but that's very weird to me considering there was nothing on the bits where the sprocket carrier and the wheel mate, apart from that mentioned wear mark, but that's still part of the stock wheel... Might need to double check if there is definitely  nothing below the cushdrives either but then you wouldn't expect any contact, and you'd expect the thing to be sandwiched flat when you tighten the axle down.

Thinking out aloud - is it definitely carrier out, not sprocket bent? I'd also be checking cush rubbers and hub/carrier interface.
As said, hard to say without seeing

I've already checked the rubbers, had them out, cleaned them and where they sit, it's all good..  :084:

It is 100% the carrier only, you could see it both on the wheel side and the spacer side between the swingarm,

Was the previous sprocket also an issue? Try remount it to see if it is similar, to rule out sprocket. Possibly something under the sprocket or not sitting flush on a chamfer or some grit.
Try hitting with rubber mallet the hub to see if the gap is flush before installation. Not a fan of the stock setup of the hub in any case.

If everything looks good, a quick ride may true it up as well.

    Good luck
