Head light unit replacement

I'm looking at replacing my headlight unit with an aftermarket one due to the cost of a BMW original.
The question is does anyone know why most after market ones don't fit 2016 model?, what's the difference?,

I installed the Matt Gecko led units, but they are quite expensive,  however I do have a pair of very low mileage units off my 2018 bike in the garage, that I would be prepared to let go. PM me if you are interested.

"ALL" Gen-1 15 thru 19 headlamps are identical...most sellers have no idea what they have nor do they know what they fit.
