Nav6 ISSUES connecting to NEW Apple Mac

Hi, has anyone got a fix for connection issues when plugging a Nav6 into a new Apple Macbook Pro M1?

New Mac only has USB C ports now, so bought the applicable cable and no joy. All it does is power up the nav and charges it.

Did some research and bought a multi port adaptor to include the old usb a type and HMMM still no joy.

Plugged it into my old mac and bingo connection made no problem.

Fed up now plugging it in and out expecting a different result.

Hoping a techy bod has a simple fix. :155: :084:
    Cheers,
    Charlie Spiceboy.

i found out not all USB C are made equal. Very stupid if you ask me,  as it it should be an ISO standard, it isn't. Generally, the power feed is the same on all so as to not damage your equipment, but data feeds may vary.

Yep thanks but been through all of that. Using the same lead it connects straight away with old Mac, but new Mac computer says NO!!!  I can only assume it’s an Apple thing😈🥸

Which adapter did you try? Not sure whether the M1 has USB C ports on both sides but if possible try both sides as IIRC the power provided to each bank of sockets is different. And all the usual - is the OS fully up to date, do other USB-A devices work etc? Being able to charge but not recognising there is a storage device attached sounds like an issue with the adapter rather than the Mac. I had a similar issue with an adapter that wouldn’t recognise any USB-A storage devices. Ping me if that still doesn’t work as it’s my day job  :002:

I believe there is a difference between USB-C and Thunderbolt on a Mac even though the connectors are the same, and differences also between generations of Mac. This might help or be a good starting point.
